Sahrij Souani

Huge tank of water in the form of a pond, dating back to the Ismaili era (late 17th century), it is located in the imperial city, northwest of the Granaries. It is a hydraulic structure measuring 149 by 319 meters and 3 meters depth. The basin was originally supplied with water by the ten norias of the neighboring building (Dar Al Ma), connected to it by terracotta pipes and under which were about ten ground waters. That is where the name Sahrij Souani comes (Norias basin).
